I cannot say that I am a Christian but I, in some way, consider myself as a believer. When the current pope was elected, I wasn’t happy with it, as the world really needs someone a bit more liberal. The latest news have only confirmed my original concerns.
I am quoting a CNN article:
Pope: Condoms aren’t solution to AIDS; they make it worse
How can a person like that come up with such an irresponsible statement? The world is full of people who take him as god and that puts a certain responsibility on his shoulders.
I mean, come on, how realistic it is that young people stop having sex? And even if they have themself tested before, it may not be enough, as it takes time before the blood tests show the virus.
Condoms are bad? Give me a break. He is going to Africa and saying that? As far as I am concerned, he should be taken down. I know that it is never going to happen, but Vatican should apologise for the statement and take it back. Not realistic at all, I totally realise, but…. come on!
A comment that I really liked *from CNN’s web*
Lisa from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania:
Hi Jack. My husband and I are 28-year-old Catholics who voted for Obama. We both feel it is time for the Church, which we love and are devoted to, to be realistic about the current affairs of the world… As a teacher and a counselor, we both think that sex ed is important. While abstinence is definitely a key issue, and obviously the best way to avoid disease, it is just not the reality for many young people. Saying “condoms make it worse” is irresponsible.
Ciao for now.
Maybe there is a God and he is kind of tired of the RC Church taking his name in vain.
The Church elected the current Pontiff, hopefully they don’t jump like rats off the sinking ship.
Condoms are part of the solution to Africa’s woes.
